Historic House Plaques
“… they say you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, a bit later on, when somebody says your name for the last time.”
―Banksy
The plaques that mark historic homes are more than just signs. They are a tribute and a way to mark a significant impact on the fabric of the landscape. Whether through your local historical society, or a sign you want created on your own, I am a one-stop shop to recognize the history of your property.
Through my work in the museum and history fields (please see the Mapping part of my website), I have the skills to research and document your home from the present back to it’s construction. Once we have the information for your property, it is time to create!
If you are a historical society looking for a only for a painter, look no further. I match your town’s historic signage so that your past programs continue forward without dramatic change. I aim to create a sign that will last years before needing replacement.
I primarily work with cedar, but will work with any kind of wood or specialty plywood you request. All signs are hand cut, and hand painted on both sides with marine-grade paint. Historical Society Logos? I can silk screen right in my workshop. I create stencils for each sign, which can be sent for approval before lettering. Each letter is lovingly hand painted, and then the work is sealed.
