Tell your family history

The computer can't tell you the emotional story. It can give you the exact mathematical design, but what's missing is the eyebrows.

“Tell her the catch dad.”

Those are the exact words my 1st cousin once removed said to her father after he asked if I was interested in taking on the family genealogy that my aunt left behind. In July 2024, we were all sitting in a bar grabbing a beer after my father’s funeral. My Aunt Joan was renowned for her genealogy and property title work. Without any intention, I find myself following in her footsteps. I think it is safe to say that history was a family affair.

The “catch” was that the work my aunt compiled over decades was now in 12 boxes at my cousin’s home. For most, 12 boxes of possibly unorganized paperwork would be a daunting task. For me, not only was it exciting, it was opportunity. How many other people out there are sitting on boxes of paperwork that contains important family history or information that they cannot or do not want to tackle? That is where I come in.

My family genealogy is an ongoing project, and I am not the only one interested. With cousins, half-siblings, and others interested in the information contained in those 12 boxes, my goal was to create a digital record of what we find s0 that it can be replicated for anyone who may want it.

Another ongoing project of mine is to document the history and works of a famous 18th/19th century composer, Daniel Read, for one of his decedents. While he is thoroughly researched, the information needed more of a story.

If this sounds like you or someone you know and you need someone to tackle all or part of your family history, please contact me.

Every document has a story to tell

The drawing of a ship to the left is from a writing book presented to me by an acquaintance. The goal was to digitize and analyze this unique artifact that survived the sands of time. One of my favorite personal projects to date, this book has math, ledgers, drawings, and more. Check out my analysis of this unique document by pressing the button below.
